Which Coyote Grill Is Right for You?
Coyote is our primary grill line. We install more Coyote than anything else, and Coyote ships direct to you from the factory when you order from us. The lineup is bigger than it looks, so here is how we walk customers through it.
The gas grill series
Coyote builds its gas grills in three main series. All three are 304 stainless steel, double-walled hoods, integrated wind guards, heat control grids and a smudge-proof control panel. The difference is burners, features and size options.
C-Series: the workhorse
The C-Series uses Coyote's stainless I-Burners. It comes in 28", 30" and 34" sizes, built-in or on a cart. The 30" is a three-burner. It is the grill we put in most first outdoor kitchens: solid, simple, easy to clean, and the price lets you spend the rest of the budget on the island. If you want a good gas grill and nothing exotic, this is it.
CL-Series: more size, Infinity burners
The CL-Series steps up to cast stainless Infinity burners, which hold heat better and last longer than tube burners. It comes in 36" and 42" built-in sizes. The 36" is a four-burner; the 42" runs five burners with about 1,247 square inches of total cooking area. Sear burners are interchangeable with the standard burners. The CL is for people who cook for a crowd or want a bigger centerpiece in a long island.
SL-Series: sear zone, rotisserie, lights
The SL-Series is Coyote's top gas line. Same Infinity burners as the CL, plus an infrared RapidSear burner, a rear rotisserie burner with the rotisserie kit included, backlit LED knobs and interior halogen lighting. It comes in 30", 36" and 42". The 36" gives you about 875 square inches of total cooking area. If you want steakhouse searing, rotisserie chicken and a grill you can run after dark, this is the one.
S-Series
Coyote has also sold an S-Series above the SL in some years. We do not stock it in the store today. If you want to talk about it, call us and we will confirm current availability with Coyote.
Sizes: what the numbers mean
The size is the width of the grill head, not the cooking surface.
- 28": Pellet grill size. Compact, fits a small island or a cart.
- 30": Three burners. Good for a household of two to four. Fits a cart or a short island.
- 34": C-Series only. A bit more room than the 30" without jumping to the 36" frame.
- 36": Four burners. The most common size we install in a full outdoor kitchen.
- 42": Five burners. For big families, entertainers and long islands.
- 50": The Hybrid and Combo grills. Two cooking methods in one head.
Each size has its own cutout spec and its own cart. The cart for the 30" C and SL is one part; the 36" CL and SL share another; the 34" C has its own. Order the cart that matches the head.
Pellet grills
Coyote's Next-Gen pellet grills come in 28" and 36", built-in or on a cart, with a digital touch screen controller. Wood pellets feed an auger into a fire pot; the controller holds a set temperature for hours. They smoke low and slow and also grill. If you want real wood flavor with set-and-forget control, this is the pellet option in the Coyote line. Pellet grills in a combustible island need Coyote's pellet insulated jacket.
The 50" Hybrid and Combo
The 50" Hybrid is gas on one side and charcoal or wood on the other, in one drop-in head: two 15,000 BTU I-Burners on the gas side and an adjustable-height fuel tray with dampers on the charcoal side, about 1,200 square inches total. The 50" Combo pairs gas burners with a flat top griddle. Both need a 50" island opening and have a matching cart if you want them freestanding.
Asado ceramic smoker
The Asado is Coyote's kamado. A thick ceramic body holds heat and moisture the way steel cannot, so it smokes at 225°F all day on a small load of charcoal and also sears at very high temperatures with the vents open. It has a 254 square inch grate. It comes as a built-in cooker that drops into Coyote's insert sleeve, or on a stand with side shelves. It is the right pick if you want charcoal smoking next to a gas grill in the same island.
Flat top
The 30" Flat Top is a full stainless griddle surface over gas burners, built-in or on a cart. Smash burgers, breakfast, fajitas, stir fry. Many customers put a flat top beside a gas grill instead of a side burner.
